LatinX Hikers began as a grassroots effort in 2018 to help LatinX and people of color reconnect with their roots in the outdoors. Today, it’s a growing national community of people who come together through hosted gatherings to celebrate community, connection and culture.

Latino Conservation Week, an initiative of the Hispanic Access Foundation, happens each year in July. The Foundation published a blog highlighting Latino environmental leadership and notes that Latinos have always been instrumental in the conservation movement, “from fighting for the preservation of natural spaces of cultural significance to being known leaders in the fight against climate change to advocating for equitable access to public lands for recreation.”
