More Time Out in Nature Is an Unexpected Benefit of the COVID-19 Sheltering Rules

In this Scientific American opinion piece, Laurence C. Smith writes, “As the COVID-19 pandemic rages around the world, shattering our familiar realms of work, education and play, many of us in lockdown face a binary choice: We can hunker down at home, or—when we can’t stand it anymore—take a walk outside.”
During stressful times, Smith writes, a walk outdoors feels more important than ever. In cities, where access to green space is most limited, it is most needed.
